The Secret Life of Becky Miller

The Secret Life of Becky Miller
by Sharon Hinck

From the Book:
Becky Miller is a young mom who wants to do Big Things for God. Her vivid daydreams help her cope with the pressure to be a Wonderful Wife and Marvelous Mother. Yet the tape going through her mind continues to play:

Your mission: Support your husband when he loses his job, nurture an eccentric circle of friends, raise perfect Christian children, cook delicious meals in a spotless kitchen, lead the women's ministry at church, and live a life filled with Meaning and Purpose.

How does this supermom react when her grand plans start to fall apart? What will it take for her to turn off the tape and listen to God's voice instead?

From Me: This was a refreshing read. Most "mom" stories are about (nearly) perfect moms who face a small trial and brink on "stinking thinking", but recover fairly quickly. Not this mom. I could see myself in Becky Miller through the whole book. Becky tries to be so perfect, but of course, nothing works out that way. I can't help but love that she thinks and responds to situations the same way I do and she feels lowest of the low...alot. But don't worry the ending is still good :) The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was all Becky's daydreams. They start every chapter and when you want to know what happens next it's super annoying to have to wade through her daydreams however it's still worth reading!
