Friday Flicks: Journey to the Center of the Earth

Since there are so many carnivals I like to participate in on Mondays and Wednesdays and nothing to get me through the end of the week, I decided to switch Monday's Movies to Fridays Flicks :)

Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)

About the Movie: Brendan Fraser stars in this action-packed adventure based on the Jules Verne Classic that is sure to deliver fun for the whole family! On a hunch to find the center of the earth, Trevor Anderson (Fraser), his nephew and their tour guide make a breakthrough discovery that launches them on a thrilling journey into the unknown. On a scramble to find their way back, the group travels through a never-before-seen world encountering creatures and objects never imagined.

From Me: While the storyline played out quickly (compared to other Journey movies), and seemed to be made for a younger audience, I still liked it. Some of the scenes were a little laughable in their fakeness, but younger kids really will not care. I was actually impressed that they managed to make a movie with only two references to a swear word. I also liked the entirely different take that this movie took, it's not your typical Jules Verne book-turned-move and it's very interesting to see how the characters make it to the center of the earth. This is a great, safe movie to watch with your kids. (And has the added bonus of getting them interested in the actual book!)
